Aledo is the oldest city in Parker County, Texas, getting its name in 1882 when the first post office was built. The town remained a relatively unknown small town outside of the DFW metroplex until the mid-1990s when its economic development really exploded due to the growth of the Fort Worth side of the Metroplex expanding west. Today, Aledo has a population of around 6,000, with the primary economic growth driver being the highly-rated Aledo Independent School District (Aledo ISD), which has been a major draw for the area.
